If you have diabetes, OR if you are a parent of a child with diabetes, this week’s interview is a must see! Laura Billetdeaux is the VP of Education and Programs at Children with Diabetes, Inc. She has organized every CWD conference since the very first Friends for Life event in June 2000!

Laura is mom to Sam, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1998 at age 8, who now successfully lives and works in NY. During our interview, Laura shares what it was like when Sam was diagnosed, as well as how the first Friends for Life conference ended up happening and how it has now turned into one of the most popular and long-running conferences for families of children (and adults!) with diabetes around the world the world that has been going strong for 15 years. Laura is a delightfully kind and uplifting woman, and I can’t wait for FFL 2016 🙂

  1. There is nothing I wish more than to help Mom’s and Dad’s cope with their children who have diabetes.
There is something in honor of my great parents that I feel a passion to want to share. I was diagnosed at 12 years old. I’m 61 now. It is by far so real that you don’t know about it till you have to know.
Then my brother got it, and he had a total different experience from mine. so my parents are to be commended and remembered for their efforts and I now work with children all my life as a teacher.
In those days groups about diabetes were full of complainers and very depressing and it was my Dad who said this is not the support we need. So, most of my life was just do it and move ahead.
Please send me information to be a part of CWD.
Laura you are a champion in the field and families need your example.
Thank you for your investment toward others.
    Much gratitude, Mary
