This week’s interview holds a special place in my heart. Shay Leahy is not only an amazing young woman who lives in the diabetes dominator mentality, but she is a close friend, and a client who has over the past 5 years turned into the little sister (with diabetes) I never had. Watching her make consistent progress over the years, and getting to be a part of her life has been and continues to be an honor and a privilege.
Shay went from a teen who experienced some serious diabetes burnout and rebelled against managing her diabetes, to an incredible, conscientious woman who is in her senior year of college, soon to be a Registered Nurse, and who already works as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit at St. Christopher’s Hospital. Her passion for caring for others is admirable, and her work ethic is unmatched.
She shares her story of diagnosis (where even I learned more about her than I already knew), some of her struggles and triumphs, and her top tips for thriving with diabetes throughout those interesting teenage years coming into adulthood 🙂
