This week’s interview was one that I have really been looking forward to. Ginger Vieira has been living with Type 1 diabetes and Celiac disease since 1999, and Fibromyalgia since 2014. She is a powerhouse in the diabetes online community and has been actively advocating for diabetes awareness, living well with diabetes, and basically just being awesome for many years. She is the author of Dealing with Diabetes Burnout, Emotional Eating with Diabetes and Your Diabetes Science Experiment. Ginger is the Editorial Director at DiabetesDaily, with a B.S. in Professional Writing and certifications in cognitive coaching, video blogging, record-setting competitive powerlifting, personal training, Ashtanga yoga, and motivational speaking.
In this interview we chat about how she diagnosed herself with diabetes after attending a 7th grade health fair (crazy!), how she deals with life while living with three autoimmune diseases and still manages to be happy, healthy, fulfilled, all while managing to look great doing it 🙂 She candidly shares her outlooks on how our mindset about any situation will determine our quality of life, and how her love of yoga and weightlifting (my two favorite exercise modalities as well!) and physical fitness in general helped her truly understand her diabetes. It was so much fun to do this interview…I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
