There are 2 words that begin with the letter P that are ruining our ability to make progress. These 2 words are procrastination and perfection. So often we hear people say things like (other people of course, not us!) “I will focus on my nutrition when the time is right” or “I don’t want to start this exercise program until after the holidays” or “I know I need to work on having a more productive mindset but I will wait until Monday” or any other number of phrases that sound similar to that.

The bottom line is this: NOW is always the right time to take action towards improving our mind and body, period. There will never be a “perfect” time, and procrastination only takes us further and further away from the goals we have set for ourselves, from the gifts we have to give to this world, from our “True You,” our true selves. Perfection is just an idea in our heads, it’s about as real as a unicorn, yet we let this “unicorn” rule our actions (or inactions) and stifle our movements towards reaching our goals.
NOW is the time for us to stand strong against procrastination and perfection, and strive for the one thing we all aspire to achieve, and that is progress. Consistent progress is within reach for each and every one of us no matter what our current state of health or mindset. We can all CHOOSE to take at least one different action each day that will move us closer to our goals, and to our true selves. So let’s step up to the challenge. Let’s decide on one action (drink 10 more ounces of water each day, eat one more serving of vegetables each day, write one more thing that you are grateful for in your gratitude journal each day) that we will take for the next 7 days in a row that will make us stronger, healthier, and more proud! By the end of the 7th day we might just find that we have created an awesome, new, healthy habit for ourselves and that we are excited to add another.
